The ASH GIRL
By Timberlake WertenbakerDirected by Amanda Delheimer
"[ASC] continues to choose plays that are both entertaining and thought-provoking for its young audience productions. I recommend The Ash Girl highly." -Chicago Parent
show description
The story of Cinderella has never been so richly conceived! Like a relic from another time and place, The Ash Girl is a rich folk tale with hints of allegory, myth and fantasy. There’s still a slipper, a prince and a wishgranting fairy, but the journey to the royal ball is fraught with danger. Only when she finds the strength to confront the monsters lurking in the forest—and in her heart—will Ash Girl regain her missing happiness. Designed with luscious set pieces, elaborate costumes, intricate masks and lyrical choreography, this play isrecommended for audiences 8 and older.
Learning Guide
Our Education Department produces a Learning Guide for all of our productions. This text is FULL of fun background information about the show, pre-show and post-show discussion questions, as well as art and language activities. While we primarily make it for our educators, we think parents should check it out as well. Click here to join the fun!Photo by Johnny Knight.
