Neighborhood Bridges
Each year, ASC offers a limited number of classroom residencies entitled Neighborhood Bridges. Classrooms throughout Chicago team up with ASC teaching artists to identify and explore themes rooted in the season. Teaching artists partner with classroom teachers to determine which areas of their curriculum can be investigated deeply with an arts-integration approach. Teachers should conclude each partnership with a tested model for arts-integrated lesson-planning and implementation, which they can recreate and redevelop over time and across the curriculum. Partnerships are currently offered for intermediate and upper grade elementary classrooms and are organized around one ASC production in the fall or spring.
Participating Classrooms Receive:
- Partnership – 20 residency hours with a professional theatre artist.
- Exposure – Tickets and transportation for a single Adventure Stage performance and the opportunity to present the students’ learning on the Vittum Theater stage.
- Resources – Learning Guide, Promptbook, lesson plans, and supplies.
