Student Workshops
Bring a fun, engaging Teaching Artist into your classroom! Workshops can be tailored to your needs and held in a variety of settings.
A Play in a Day
These 4-hour workshops are led by ASC teaching artists in the classroom. Teachers can choose to take part or enjoy watching their students participate. First students enjoy a story (connected to the classroom curriculum) told by the teaching artist, then students get on their feet to warm-up with fun drama activities. The group works together to stage and perform the story. Watch your students transform into focused young actors in just a few short hours!
Storytelling
Any stories we bring to your school can be focused on a theme or connected to the curriculum.
Storytelling Performance: Bring one of ASC’s many talented storytellers to your school. Our storytellers are able to perform fables, folktales, fairytales, personal narratives, and more to fit the style of your event. Students will be invited to participate in the storytelling through moments of chanting, motions they can do from their seats, or even asking the students for suggestions to guide a story! A Storytelling Performance can be shared with multiple age groups for 20-60 minutes.
Storytelling Workshop: Go one step further into storytelling by letting the students become the storytellers! Storytelling will be modeled by an experience storyteller before students participate in an interactive story and then go on to create their own original story. This workshop is best for ages 8+ for 45-90 minutes.
